‘When Autumn Comes’

120 × 160 cm, earth pigments, acrylics, chalk, pencil and oil pastels on canvas.

This painting comes from my personal experience with the myth of Persephone, a Greek goddess who lives in the light and dark. Her abduction to the underworld by Hades can be seen as an event that people can relate to, when we are taken from the lighter days into the dark depths of the soul. The myth of Persephone teaches us that spring will always come, and we will find our way back into rebirth. A remembering that we can trust the cycles of our inner world like we trust the turning of the seasons.
